Stephen Franks was an Australian artist who was born in 1942 and died in 2002.
His works are predominantly in oils and acrylics. Mostly landscapes. He is a well-known artist based in central western NSW, around Dubbo.
Allegedly he was involved in some criminal enterprise and suffered alcoholism.
Franks had an untimely death at age 40 years of age due to suicide.
His notoriety and the controversy around his death have created increased interest in Stephen Franks’ artworks.
